Identify the product

Check online eligibility
DCJIS says online iCORI registration requires a valid Massachusetts driver’s license or Massachusetts ID card.

Use mail if you do not have Massachusetts ID
The same page instructs individuals without a Massachusetts driver’s license or ID to submit the Personal Request Form by mail. Use the current form and address provided by DCJIS.

The state page says CORI requests may take up to 10 business days to process. A recipient or employer may have a separate review timeline after the report is issued.

What the portal can show
Massachusetts court instructions list party, event, docket and disposition details. Depending on court department and case type, some documents may also be visible.
Where the official public record comes from
For the official public Trial Court record, the state directs users to the Clerk, Register, or Recorder’s office where the case was filed.
Case-number search is the cleanest locator
The court guide says an exact case number is the easiest way to find a case when known. Keep capitalization, spacing and leading zeros exactly as the court requires.
Do not promise universal criminal name search
The state’s public internet instructions describe the Name tab as civil cases only. For criminal research, use available case locators and court-specific access rather than claiming every criminal case can be found by a public statewide name query.
Interpret a Massachusetts result according to its source
CORI ≠ court-file copy
A personal CORI is a DCJIS criminal-history product. A MassCourts docket is case information, and the filing office supplies the official public court record. If a decision depends on the exact disposition language, identify the case in Trial Court Case Access and obtain the filed court document rather than treating a CORI line or portal screen as a certified judgment.
